AN OVERVIEW OF FLANGE NUTS

Image
A flange nut is a type of nut which has a wide flange at one end which acts as an integrated washer . Made up of hardened steel and coated zinc, flange Nuts are used for a variety of applications, depending on the style purchased and has a hexagonal type shaped. To avoid damage to the part, this nut distributes the pressure of nut over the part being secured. In simple words, “Flange nuts” are a type of fastener with a wide bottom circular flange. Their “washer like” base helps in distributing the load pressure of the nut uniformly over a large surface area. The shape of flange locknuts is hexagonal and is used in assembly lines where workers have to speed up the work process . Flange Nut provides a locking action that may be serrated. For rotating the nut in a proper direction, the serrated flange nuts are angled in a proper manner that would loosen the nut. The serrations help in preventing the vibration of the nut from moving the fastener, thus maintaining the h...

Cage Nuts Specifications and Its Applications

Image
Introduction to cage Nuts A cage nut is used on a rack that has square mounting holes. You would use a cage nut when you need to mount a product in your rack that requires a threaded hole. A cage nut is nothing more than a square nut that has threaded holes wrapped in a piece of spring steel designed like a cage. This spring steel has two flanges that when pressed together allow the cage nut to be inserted into the square hole and simply clip in. When this done you now have a square hole that is threaded. The nut is typically loose in the cage to allow for adjustments when installing the screw. Cage nuts combine the classic elastic properties of fasteners used for assembly with the strength of multi-threaded steel nuts. Cage nuts are designed to be used in any kind of assembly including blind assemblies and are particularly common in equipment racks. They can be fastened within their housing using bolts and subjected to considerable tightening torque or axial forces. No ...

HEX NUTS AND ITS SPECIFICATION

Image
v   What are Hex Nuts? One of the most common nuts available are the Hex nuts that are used with anchors, bolts, screws, studs or any other fastener which has machine screw threads. This Nuts are widely used for industrial and commercial use. Hex, as the name suggests, is short-form off Hexagon. Hex nuts have six sides in the shape of a Hexagon. Hex Full Nuts, Finished Hex Nuts are some of the names given to Hex Nuts. Hex Nuts are required for fastening purpose. Though, the design of a hex nuts is simple but they are created to deliver high end efficiency and Performance. The size of hex Nuts, typically varies from ¼” to about 2 ½” and are available in different Strength Grades. The Grades are given on the basis of Strength and cost of the nuts.   Stainless steel hex nuts and bolts/screws used together are susceptible to thread galling and seizing. While it may not be completely preventable, it can be substantially reduced. A thread lubricant is the most ef...
